It is the Gallicano celebration to win “il cencio”. A cencio is a piece of cloth, a not so big cloth designed with the three district colors but in reality it is the symbol of a rainbow of ideas, of the desire to do, of these passionate people, who share on July 25 the magic of a common square, a stage where the creativity of this small town pours out, a fantastic show of figures and floats that has no equal. All this is the result of hard work by each district, a work that begins months and months before: it starts with the project and costumes, floats, dances are created in the hope of victory for their colors. It animates the town, involves children, boys, men, women and the elderly, the Palio belongs to everyone and everyone works for the Palio. In the tailoring shops among glitter and fabrics, feathers and sequins the seamstresses work hard, they sew, cut, pin, glue and create fantastic costumes, creativity in its purest state. At the Casa dei Carri, magnificent carts are created with glue and iron, paper and paint, breathtaking scenography in the spirit of Gallicano genius.
