The prestigious London Philharmonia Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, will perform on Friday 8 November at the Teatro del Giglio. An unmissable event to celebrate Puccini's centenary and close the orchestra's Italian tour. For the Italian tour, the program includes the Concerto for orchestra by Béla Bartók and the Symphony n. 1 in E minor op. 39 by Jean Sibelius. Only for the concert at Giglio, a Puccinian "off the program" is added to the set list of songs: from the opera Le Villi, the interludes "L'abandonment" and "La tregenda" will be performed.
This Lucca stop will be one of three that the English orchestra has decided to make in Italy. The latest after those already performed last 7 and 9 October, respectively at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and at La Scala in Milan. A special concert created by the promoting committee of the Puccini Celebrations.
