The opera season inaugurates each year the rich programme of the Teatro del Giglio, artistic and cultural reference point and Theatre of Tradition of Lucca, together with prose and dance performances, from classical to contemporary. Teatro del Giglio presents “Giulio Cesare” a musical drama in three acts with libretto by Nicola Francesco Haym from Giulio Cesare in Egitto by Giacomo Francesco Bussani. Music by GEORG FRIEDRICH HÄNDEL critical edition edited by Bernardo Ticci. With a scenography that recalls the gold of the Sabbies of Egypt and the majesty of the pharaonic dynasties, the Giglio theatre brings the charm of the Baroque on stage with Giulio Cesare, an absolute masterpiece of Georg Friedrich Händel.
