Sunday 23 February, starting from 3.00 pm the parade of masks on the Walls of Lucca. The route will start from above Porta Sant'Anna, will wind along the city walls up to the Caffè delle Mura, where a performance of choreographies and themed dances will be held, and then descend to Piazza San Michele, where there will be an encore of the event.
The parade will be opened by a work 4.5 meters high and 5 meters long, created by the famous Viareggio float master Luca Bertozzi, which represents the iconic symbol of Lucca, the Panther: therefore for the first time a new float dedicated to the city has been created. Also in the procession were three musical groups, from the Bassotti Band of the Nozzano Philharmonic to those of Marlia and Villa Basilica, as well as the Bandieratori e Musici group. Also present at the parade was Lucchetto, the mask designed and created by the collector Piero Caniparoli, a reinterpretation that has its roots in the city tradition linked to the Lucca Carnival and which will welcome Burlamacco and Ondina. while in Piazza San Michele a large screen will show images of the floats of the Viareggio Carnival of the 2025 edition. The route starts from Porta Sant'Anna and continues along the curtain of the city walls up to the Caffè delle Mura to The masked groups, with hundreds of figures, miniature floats and many other surprises, then descend into Piazza San Michele, where a spectacular performance by the masked groups with dances and themed choreographies is planned.
