From April 23rd to 27th we are waiting for you at the Lucca Classica Music Festival!
Music will invade every corner of the city, from morning until late at night. The squares, historic buildings, churches, theatres and all the spaces that can accommodate sounds, culture and beauty will become the beating heart of this extraordinary edition.
It tells the story, still little known in Italy, of the women of Cape Verde forced to “steal” sand from the beaches of the archipelago to resell it to local construction companies. A way, often the only possible, to survive the poverty to which many of them are condemned. The work revolves around the “live” images created by Gabriella Compagnone, one of the most famous and appreciated Italian sand artists, and uses a text written for the occasion by the playwright Guido Barbieri. The musical part is entrusted to the quintet of the Calamani Philharmonic Orchestra conducted for the occasion by the violinist and composer Marcello Fera who has transcribed for string orchestra some of the most beautiful Cape Verdean morne.
